I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but since a few days, spam attempts on my site have almost increased by 700%. I've been using Mollom to protect this sort of things and wow, am I happy to be using this webservice since a few months. I can't imagine unpublishing N comments per day. So a big thank you to Benjamin and Dries, I'm just wondering if this amount of spam (ok it's not *that* many I think) will require me to start paying from september on :)

Since last week the number of spam attemps have more than quadrup(a)led :)

I've posted some thoughts, and observations about the Mollom/comment spam surge at http://mikeyp.net/archives/2008/08/has_molloms_captcha_been_cracked.html. I am suspecting that there has been an increase in attempts to crack Mollom's captcha, and it may have been successful.
